Welcome to Sound Bytes – TAI’s Quarterly Newsletter bringing you a summary of the latest news from across the TAI family. It’s 2022. Are we finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel? At the very least, we are seeing actual faces as we start to return to in-person events and offices. As James Taylor so eloquently put it, “Whenever I see your smiling face, I have to smile myself.”

Each quarter, we bring you a few tips to help you get the most out of your TAI system. This quarter, we pass the mic to our senior consultant Mindy Epstein to cover all things Fraiserization:

Custom Projects

We are currently working on the following custom projects for our TAI family. If any of these are of interest to your business, please contact us via the TAI Help Desk.

  • IFRS17 Reporting feeds – The creation of a custom reporting feed for IFRS17 regulatory reporting.
  • Recapture, replace, or retain – Recent .NET versions include the base recapture application; however, we are working on additional modifications for a client, as their recapture and business rules vary enough to require accommodations.
  • Business Process Optimization – We’re assisting clients with defining their target reinsurance administration operating model and working with their team to identify and eliminate inefficiencies, maximize the use of TAI software, and define process improvements that streamline operations and reflect the best in industry practices.

Fan Club

In the spirit of kicking off business travel with a trip to Las Vegas for the annual ReFocus conference, we are dedicating this month’s Fan Club trivia to Viva Las Vegas.

Answer the below questions correctly for your chance to win a Starbucks e-gift card.

  • What is the most common nickname for Las Vegas?
  • What is the largest casino in Las Vegas?
  • Which casino is the most popular?

Chris Murumets

Chris Murumets

After a long history with TAI, Chris Murumets is taking on a new role as CEO. He brings three decades of reinsurance experience to the position and has been using TAI software since the start: his first job was in ceded reinsurance at Crown Life using TAI every day.

With strong reinsurance expertise and familiarity with TAI, Chris is focused on maintaining what makes TAI great while boosting operational proficiencies, product innovation, and technology solutions. He believes TAI’s position as a central node in the industry will enable its ability to generate special insights and industry-leading innovations.

Chris grew up in Northern Ontario, playing hockey and skating. To stay active now, he enjoys running and using his stationary bike. Chris has a busy household, with three sons and two Bernedoodle (Bernese Mountain dog and poodle mix) dogs, Maudsey and Florence. When he’s not thinking about reinsurance or technology, you can find him spending time with his family or blasting some cheesy 80’s rock.

Wisdom from Wilson
– The last word …

wilson

I have this feeling of cautious optimism that things are getting better. Maybe it’s because we’re almost done with winter … maybe because pandemic restrictions are finally going away … maybe because I’ve been watching a lot of rom-com movies on Netflix (don’t judge unless you want recommendations).

Spring brings hope. Hope that good things are coming – to ourselves, our communities, and especially to those places caught up in chaos and heartbreak. And, when good times are on their way, we get to celebrate and enjoy them while we can – you never know how long it will last.

So whether it’s waking up your garden, learning how to be social with people face to face again, volunteering to help others, or even watching me in a state of nervousness emceeing the 2022 TAI User Group with Nicole, let’s really enjoy this time and embrace those spring feelings!
